Principal’s message

It’s my proud privilege to introduce privilege to introduce a centurion old institution which started functioning during the freedom movement in Odisha. Established in 1913, it is housed in in the heritage building of Shri Madhusudan Das, the architect of modern Odisha. Credit goes to Miss Shailabala Das, the adopted daughter of Madhusudan Das who set in motion this premiere women’s institution by donating her father’s residential building for the purpose. Not only this, she left no stone unturned to mobilize the initial functioning of this HEI when women education was considered a distant dream. Since then, this HEI has evolved as a gateway to women empowerment.

This HEI has fostered generations of trailblazers, thinkers and changemakers. The institution stands at the crossroads of tradition and transformation. We have nurtured curiosity, critical thinking, and compassion in every learner who walks through our gates. Our mission is simple yet powerful, to provide an inclusive, research‑driven environment where students are equipped not just with knowledge, but with the confidence to shape tomorrow.
