SBWC NEW HOSTEL

INNAUGURATION:

Shailabala New Hostel, the 400 seated hostel of Shailabala Women’s Autonomous College, Cuttack, was inaugurated on the 25th of March 2023 through virtual mode, by Honourable Chief Minister of Odisha, Sj. Naveen Patnaik, in the presence of 5T Secretary Shri. V.K. Pandian, to commemorate the 148th Birth Anniversary of Odisha’s pioneer in women education and social reformer Shailabala Das, after whom the institution is named. A grand inaugural ceremony was organised by the College, and  graced by the presence of the erstwhile  Hon’ble Minister of Higher Education, Shri. Rohit Pujari, the erstwhile Collector and DM of Cuttack, Shri. Bhabani Shankar Chayani, Chaiperson, OB & OCWW Board, Smt. Sreemayee Mishra, and Mayor, CMC, Shri. Subas Chandra Singh. After the inspiring and congratulatory addresses by the dignitaries, a colourful cultural program was held to match the solemn occasion.

INFRASTRUCTURE:

The Hostel has boarding capacity for 400 students and is well equipped with all basic amenities and facilities for them. It has 5 floors and each floor has separate  blocks of toilets, bathrooms and wash basins at both ends. There are 3 stairways at three sides of the building. There are two lifts for the physically challenged and boarders of the 3 upper floors. Small almirahs and Beds for 400 students were provided by the Government.

FACILITIES:

The Hostel provides safe drinking water to the boarders through Aquaguard Water purifiers installed on each floor. The Hostel has facilities like a spacious and furnished dining hall, reading hall and Computers for the boarders.

SAFETY AND SECURITY:

The Safety and Security of the boarders are well taken care through Close Circuit Television Cameras installed at pertinent spots of the Hostel. The main entry is guarded 24×7 by a security guard. The Hostel also has adequate number of fire extinguishers and alarms to take care of any fire emergency.

Shailabala New Hostel strives to provide a secured and comfortable environment for the students academic welfare and all round development.
